Former client: sockets, plugs, LED lighting, cabling and all those electrical thingummy widgets – and a great South West company, to boot. Devondale is a fantastic South West electrical wholesaler business that has seen steady growth since it was founded 35 years ago. Devondale shows what can be achieved with a sensible business model that makes the most of its people.
The company is committed to apprenticeships and encouraging employees to grow within the business, achieving a bronze Investors in People Award at the end of 2015. This year the eighth branch opened in Paignton, with a branch manager who started out with Devondale as an apprentice. Another apprentice, in Barnstaple, won an award at the 2016 Electrical Distributors Association Annual Awards.
I’m working to promote the brand in the different branch regions, which stretch from Newton Abbot to Glastonbury to Weymouth, as well as gain national coverage in relevant trade magazines. The work also involves researching case studies for Devondale’s project clients.
