Ever found a jade lion in the back of a drawer, or a vase that looks vaguely oriental – and wondered how much it was worth?
Working with family business Chilcotts Auctioneers has been rather an eye opener into the world of antiques and collectibles. I handle PR for this family business which runs regular sales of antiques, collectibles and more. So many interesting items come up for auction, from medals bringing families back together, to Japanese internment camp diaries and Ernest Shackleton’s whalebone! Highest value story – the amazing moon flask, discovered in East Devon, which fetched nearly a quarter of a million pounds at auction in Hong Kong. Lots of research required, which I love.
Along with occasional feature articles, I secure regular coverage in Western Morning News, Express & Echo, regional papers, Antiques Trade Gazette and the BBC, radio and website. The reason – these are simply great stories and I’m really rather priviliged to be able to tell them. I also help with advice on social media.
